Vickie Stewart

A Celebration of Vickie Stewart’s Life, age 65, of Jasper, Texas, was held Saturday, August 12, 2023, at First Baptist Church Jasper with burial following at West Oaks Cemetery, Jasper, Texas.

Vickie passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. She was a native of Silsbee and longtime resident of Jasper, Texas. Vickie was a 1976 graduate of Silsbee High School. She and her husband, Sammy, owned and operated Stewart Glass for over 40 years in Jasper. Based on her work in getting legislation passed on Consumer Information Rights of Choice, Governor Ann Richards awarded her the Yellow Rose of Texas award. Vickie was elected to three terms on the Jasper I.S.D. school board, she had completed two terms and had just started her third term as a board member. She was elected to three terms of the Texas Glass Association as President; served two terms on the board of the National Glass Association and was a Republican Texas Delegate for the State of Texas.

Vickie is survived by her husband of 47 years, Sammy Stewart of Jasper; son, Dustin Craig Stewart and wife Ericka of Jasper; daughter, Kadence Stewart of Jasper; two brothers, Eddie McDaniel and wife Diann of Florida and James deBretagne and wife Maetha of Silsbee, Texas; two sisters, Renee Schmidt of Silsbee, Texas and Debra deBretagne of Silsbee, Texas; grandchildren, Gracie Stewart and Emma Stewart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Laverne deBretagne and daughter, Deidre Hoke.
