Walter Homer Holland II, age 90, passed away quietly March 12, 2024, at Memorial Hermann Medical Center (Shenandoah, Texas) surrounded by family.

Born September 3, 1933, to Oza Irene (née Thornal) and Walter Homer Holland I in Bessmay, Texas. Homer and his four siblings grew up in Silsbee, Texas. Upon graduating Silsbee High School, Homer joined the U.S. Navy and participated in the Korean War, after which he found a career in the oil & gas industry … and the love of his life, Sharon “Lynn” Perryman, who he married in 1959.

Throughout his career, Homer dined with headhunters in Irian Jaya, roughnecks in the U.S., diplomats in Lebanon, and royalty in Iran. Additionally, he was an active member of NOMADS (National Oil Equipment Manufacturers and Delegates Society), a source of professional pride (and personal mischief).

Homer is survived by his daughter, Christine; his sister, Nancy; his brother, Howard; and his daughter-in-law, Teresa (née Dufrene), and was preceded in death by his wife, Lynn; his son, Walter Homer III (“Trey”); and his brothers, Harrell and Henry.

Per Homer’s request, there will be no funeral service. A family memorial service will be held at a future date, time to be determined.
