William R. Mitchell Sr. was a son, brother, husband, father, Paw Paw, uncle, friend, ordained Deacon, a US Marine, an electrical Superintendent, but more important than all of these he was a child of God, a true Christian, who loved talking about and sharing the Word of God with everyone. He was born William Roger Mitchell, July 8, 1936, to George G. Mitchell Sr. and Olive Lanie Hawthorne Mitchell. He was a graduate of Silsbee High School.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, brother, George G. Mitchell Jr., sister Caroline Mitchell Belk and his loving wife Gloria June Mitcham Mitchell.

Bill met his wife June in 1960 and married her two weeks later, they remained married 60 years, until her death in April of 2021. They were a true example of what a married couple should be like. Bill and June were always holding hands, kissing, and dancing in the kitchen right up until her final days.

God Blessed them with three children and spouses, Teri Lynn Mitchell Gilbert and husband John Spencer Gilbert; William “Billy” R. Mitchell Jr and wife Patti Renee Lowe Mitchell and Scott Alan Michell whose wife Wanda June Powers Mitchell preceded him in death. He is also survived by his brother Charles Norman Mitchell. From here the lineage continued with seven grandchildren: Tana N. Tupper, Brett D. Byrd, Brittany A. Byrd, Heather R. Perez, Alexis N. Mitchell, Derrick S. Mitchell, and Samantha L. Drake. Additions to the family were as follows, Nicole Baker, Aaron P. Tupper, Fay Marie Landry Byrd, Marcus D. Perez, Josh Drake, Landon Carr and Meagen R. Matthews Mitchell. Wow is God giving them a family or what? Out of this came more blessings; great grandchildren include, Kourtlyn A. Tupper, Cayden P. Tupper, Bryce D. Byrd, Brooklyn T. Byrd, Bria Byrd, Kieley A. Byrd, Kinley R. Tidwell, Katy W. Tidwell, Alayah S. Perez, Lexi D. Perez, Jase A. Drake, Gavin W. Drake and last by not least Carter L. Mitchell.

A Family that Bill loved and treasured. Now he has gone home to be with his beautiful wife June and many other loved ones, and they are having a celebration in Heaven.
