“You’re lying!” “No, I’m not lying! You are!”

Body
Is anybody besides me sick and tired of hearing and reading where some of the candidates this year are calling each other liars either on the air or in print? And could it be that, in reality, all of them are lying? Or at least not telling the whole truth, or stretching the truth? Someone said, when a half truth is told for the whole truth, it becomes a lie. Kinda like in the garden of Eden when the serpent told Eve she wouldn’t die if she ate the forbidden fruit.

Federal judge appears skeptical of new border law

Body
A federal judge is expected to rule quickly on the constitutionality of a Texas law about to go into effect that institutes new state penalties for illegal border crossings. During a hearing last week, U.S. District Judge David Ezra said he had concerns that other states would follow Texas’ lead in creating their own immigration laws – a power given exclusively to the federal government under the U.S. Constitution.

According to a FEC reports, Yass is the principal driver and donor—$3.5 million—to the AFC Victory Fund. AFCVF mailers have become ever present in our mailboxes, since it’s been spending tens-of-thousands in to unseat Texas House incumbents with negative and misleading advertising.

We had a City Council meeting on Monday without the presence of our city manager who was absent due to the death of her brother who she had provided a lot of care for during a recent illness. If she had been present I’m sure she would have had a valuable input on several of the topics.

Shirley Cook endorses Steve Smith for office

Body
I have worked with Steve Smith for 16 years. He works with our delinquent tax attorney. Steve has a wealth of knowledge with the property tax system and has been very helpful to our office with the calculations of tax rates and collections. Steve has a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and has completed all courses necessary to be a certified Texas State Tax Assessor Collector. He has been a Hardin County resident for several years. I have full confidence in his qualifications and am happy to endorse him as the next TAC.
