Kountze- In the second game of the season, which happened to be Homecoming, the Kountze Lions remained scoreless at the end of the game with Wallis Brazos winning 33-0.
The major playmakers for the Cougars were Bryson Bennett, Rafael Almaraz and Jarvse Dickerson. Bennett threw for 104 passing yards with a 38.5% completion rate with one touchdown pass. Bennett connected with Jenson Miles for a 12-yard touchdown reception.
Almaraz had eight carries for 84 yards and 2 touchdowns. One was a 21-yard touchdown run, and the other was a 7-yard run into the end zone.
Dickerson had six carries for 57 yards and one touchdown. His one touch down run totaled 29-yards.
Brazos totaled 382 yards with 265 of those from rushing.
On defense, the Cougars held Kountze to only 39 yards total with 38 of those being passing. The Lions only had one yard rushing.
The Lions had trouble converting on third down going 2-9 on third down conversions. Kountze now falls 0-2 as they look to take on Evadale on Friday.
