Lady Tigers Go 2-3 in Tourney

Silsbee- The Lady Tigers hosted their second annel varisity tournament this weekend and went 2-3 in the tournament.

Both wins came on Thursday. The first was against Port Arthur Memorial. Port Arthur took the first game 16-25, but Silsbee came back to win games 2 and 3 (25-20, 15-7).

For their second match of the day, the Lady Tigers lost to West Hardin, 2-0 with scores of 22-25 and 14-25.

In the third match, Silsbee recovered from their loss to West Hardin and went on to beat Buna JV 2-0 (25-10, 25-13).

For the day, Kearstyn Hall had 16 kills while Ca’Drian Martin had 12. Jena Warden came in with 5 kills. All three of these players are jumiors.

That set Silsbee up for good standing going into the Gold Bracket on Saturday.

Silsbee matched up against Hamshire-Fannett in the first match of the day on Saturday. Even with losing the match, the Lady Tigers still managed to wrack up stats. Again, Ca’Drian Martin had 6 kills and Kearstyn Hall ended up with 4. In addition, Aniah HIll had 14 assists.

After losing to Hamshire, Silsbee went on to lose to Kirbyville, giving Kirbyville the consolation spot.

Coach Nichols expressed her pride in the team after the tournament.

“am super proud of how the team played this past week. We didn’t get the wins we wanted but we saw a lot of growth in just a few short days. These girls have skill and fight so we will get to where we want,” stated Nichols.

After the tournament, the Lady Tigers sit with a 2-4 record as the season gets underway.
