The Silsbee Tigers are heading back to the playoffs after they roared past Little Cypress Mauriceville Friday winning 4-2. Matsyn Morris who stepped to the mound for the Tigers was a big key to Silsbee’s victory with 11 strikeouts. He gave up only 4 hits and two runs the entire game only walking three.

London Jessie set a new school record and recently advanced to the state track meet at the Regional meet, Jessie, who already held the school record, ran a 1:55.69 at the Regional competition for a new school record.

The Silsbee Tigers battled back from an 0-6-1 start to claim a spot in the Class 4A playoffs for the 14th straight year. To make matters worse, the Tigers were “no-hit” in three of the first seven games.

The Silsbee Tigers will play Huffman Hargrave in the Bi-District round of the playoffs. The two teams will meet in a three game series.

Michael Dabney and David Drake Sr. have been chosen to be new members for the Silsbee High School Wall of Honor, They will be inducted this upcoming year during homecoming week.

Lauren Wise led the Silsbee Tigers in the District tournament by winning the girls singles championship. This is the second straight year that the sophomore has claimed the singles championship.

Bryan Fields, who lives in Silsbee, was inducted last week into the Texas Rodeo Hall of Fame. He was introduced to rodeo by his parents Leighton & Linda Fields.

Members of the Silsbee and Lumberton soccer teams made all district honors for the 17-4A this past week. Here were the results: Most Valuable Player- Santiago Troncoso (Lumberton) Offensive Player of the Year- Jaxan Tallina (Lumberton) Defensive Player of the Year- Quincy Green (Lumberton) Newcomer of the Year- Luke Cody (Lumberton) Coach of the Year- Matt Wedel (Lumberton)

Silsbee could not find any momentum in a tough 17-0 loss to Little Cypress Mauriceville after four innings. The Lady Tigers struggled to maintain any defensive prowess as the LCM Lady Bears bats were hot throughout the game.
