KOUNTZE — Kountze ISD officials are asking residents to complete a survey so the district can be prepared on multiple scenarios to start the 2020-21 school year due to safety and mitigation factor which could be placed across the state concerning COVID-19. The deadline to complete the survey is Friday, June 12.

Kayaks, canoes and other small boats will make their way down Village Creek on June 13 for the annual Village Creek Classic Fun Fest, hosted by the Silsbee Chamber of Commerce. It will take place at Silsbee RV Park, 1041 South Mill Creek Drive off Highway 327 West.

Silsbee Fire Department firefighters responded to a fire in a vacant mobile home, without utilities, on FM 1122 on June 7. SFD sent a pumper, tanker, tornado unit and 18 firefighters. They were able to get the fire under control quickly and it’s being investigated by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office. The mobile home has not be inhabited for several years. Photo by Danny Reneau
