Lumberton Raiders receive all district honors

The Lumberton Raiders who finished fourth in the District 19-4A standings had a number of players honored by District Coaches in the all district standings. Kaleb Koch, a senior, was the Defensive MVP of the District.

Lumberton and Silsbee in Regional track meet

Lumberton and Silsbee participated in the Regional Track Meet in Bullard on April 28 and both teams had fairly disappointing results. Brady Fuselier of Lumberton placed fourth in the 200 meter dash in 22.22.

Raiders’ season ends with losses to Huffman Hargrave

The Lumberton Raiders played the Huffman Hargrave Falcons in the Bi-District round of the playoffs and Lumberton dropped the series in back to back games 4-1 and 13-4. Lumberton finished the season with a record of 1710-2 but they also dropped their final five games of the season.

Team 3000 Basketball

The Team 3000 Basketball organization was founded in Kountze by Andre Williams Sells, seven years ago. He said, “This is a real 409 program with kids from Kountze, Silsbee, Kirbyville, Buna, Jasper, Brookland, Beaumont, Woodville, Lumberton, and East Chambers.” The organization was started as Sells’ way to give back to the community and help kids stay out of trouble by giving them something to do in the summer. He also said, “This was the first time since I started the organization that I took all my teams to a big tournament and we came back with championship rings in the Big Battle Classic Tournament in Houston. He added, “I want to thank all my coaches, board members, parents and the vice president of team 3000, Ricky Jackson. We could not do it without y’all.” The teams and their pictures are as follows:

Kyla Parker

Kyla Parker had a great year for the Kountze Lady Lions. The sophomore was 16-7 for the year.

Sam Fling

Sam Fling, a freshman at Hardin-Jefferson High School, has had a very strong start to his high school running career. He qualified for Regionals in cross country by placing 6th overall in district, and finishing as the #1 Freshman. He has also proven himself in the outdoor track and field season by running a record 4:47 mile amongst very tough upperclassman competition at the district meet. This district perfor-mance ranked him as the #40 Top Freshman District Performer in all of Texas in the 1600 meter on Texas Milesplit. He also competed well in the high school indoor track season this year at McNeese University, University of Houston and LSU running the 1600 and 3200 meter races running against fierce competition from multistates. Sam is an all A student, and has big plans on running in college.He will continue training and competing this summer with Beaumont Track Club under Coach Roy Washington. Sam is the grandson of Roy and Christi Fling of Evadale.

Lady Rebels defeat Chireno in two games

Paisley Sanders was bad news for opposing pitchers on Friday, driving in four on three hits to lead Lady Rebels 2023 past Chireno 11-1 on Friday. Sanders drove in runs on a double in the second and a double in the third.
