Christmas is the season for coming together with those we love and remembering the past as well as looking forward to the future. It is that “togetherness” that makes the season so special down through the ages.

After a 2020 holiday season in which the pandemic forced the postponement or cancellation of festivities, families are planning to get together once again in 2021. Many people will head home for the holidays this year, and the vast majority will take to the highway to do so.

John Terry, author of his latest book, “My Life and Poetry, Volume 2,” will be on hand to sign copies from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday, Dec. 22, at the Christian Book Store, located at 120 Pine Plaza in Silsbee.

For some people there is no better way to celebrate the holidays than to spend time with friends and loved ones around the dinner table. Although cooking and dining at home are popular this time of year, some celebrants may not have the time or the inclination to host the holidays at home. Preparing and serving holiday meals to guests can be time-consuming. In fact, many holiday hosts and hostesses lament that hosting duties can compromise the time they get to spend with the ones they love each year.

Do we actually believe in a God who can create a baby in a virgin's womb, or who can, three days after a man has died, raise him from the tomb? Do we believe in a God of miracles, who can make things happen which cannot be scientifically explained? Is it necessary to believe that Jesus was born of a virgin in order to be saved or to be a real Christian? Is it necessary to believe that Jesus literally, bodily and physically arose from the dead in order to be saved or to be a real Christian? My answer to both of these questions is yes. Let me answer the second one first, straight from the Bible.
